24 February 2012

It had been 1 month time since I last blogged
.
Underwent major surgery on 2nd February 2012.
It was a leg reconstruction and resection as well as to take out the tumor surgery.
It was a major operation and it was also scary to lie on the op table once again.

That day, i remembered i was not supposed to eat or drink anyting after 12 midnight
Although my op was scheduled as the 2nd case of the day!
I was asked to wheeled to the waiting area outside the operzting theatre at around 11am.
At that moment, i remembered my stomach having butterflies as i was nervous.
I also recalled Cheryl, Rachel and Nurse Dicksin came to help me catch the butterflies and to cheer me on.
At the waiting area, we waited quite long as i needed to be on antibiotics through IV.
It would take around 1hr for the antibiotics.
Thus, at around 12 plus, i was officially wheeled in.

While on the way to the OT, I saw my favourite anathetist, Dr Ahsok. I chat with himand told himi was scared and nervous, sort of apprehensive about the whole thing.
I was talking to him and Dr tay, my anathetist 4 the op that day AND
TADA i was drugged already, haha…!!! and i went to lala land for quite long.
This is because when i came out, it was night time already.
I was in the recovery room and there were nurses waiting for me to be awake.
When i was slightly conscious, i heard some noises around me.
I was still in a state of delirious but i heard nurses telling me to press the morphine button when i felt pain. I also recalled that i was wearing the oxygen mask as i was low in oxygen as i had lost quite a bit of blood.

I was supposed to be sent back to PICU for kids but as there was no bed there,
I was sent to ward 8B single room to be monitored closely.
When i was settled back in the single room, i immediately vomitted and it was bloody.
The doctor assured as that this was alright as the intubation had hurt my throat.
I vomitted twice. For the 1st time, nurses got to change my bedsheet and it is a difficult feat as i could not lift my butt and my leg. In the process, i was hurting everywhere. I remembered crying and there were quite a number of nurses, they comforted me.
Finally, they changed the bedsheet and connected the line before allowing me to rest.
I had a hard time getting to sleep as firstly, I cannot turn sideways and the pressure buildup is too much to bear. Secondly, I felt nausea. Thirdly, i felt pain and my leg got to be constantly turned as it was tilted. The correct position is the toe facing the ceiling.

Luckily, my sister came to accompany me and because of medicine, i was asleep most of the time.
Even when Dr Suresh and assistant came to check me out i was stillquite sleepy. I have to thanks Dr Suresh for saving my leg and doing this operation!! Dr Suresh is actually a very nice doctor. He is very thoughtful of his patients and very careful and particular about his patients wound. He tskes every wound seriously and carefully. He even calls me princess which made me happy of course. He is just mistaken to be a cool and cold man. In actual fact, he is just strict and puts on a strict look on his face.
After they left, sis accompanied me till quite late. In actual fact, i don”t want her to leave as there is nobody to accompany me 🙁
After sis left, nurse came every hour to monitor me. I still feel quite sleepy because of the morphine, thus i slept till the next morning, but there was a lot of disturbance: take blood pressure, taking of temperature, turning of leg…………..

Wanna know more about the 2nd day after op, do come back and visit my blog 🙂
