Aspirations vs Dreams

All of us has had a dream in their mind and this is actually good to have aspirations which is your dreams. But one thing I am curious is what is the difference between aspirations and dreams? Perhaps  aspirations means things you want to achieve and yet dreams is something you inspire to be?

Why I am discussing this topic is because I will be participating in an art exhibition which will be held from 21th July to 28th July. The theme for this year is “Aspirations”. This project titled Project Dreamcatchers is held in conjunction with the National Youth Council (NYC) SHINE Youth Festival.

This project aims to bring out the aspirations of youths, inspiring

them to dream big and take risks without losing their own attitudes, moral and beliefs and translating them into art pieces. This art exhibition aims to create public awareness about childhood chronic illness, bringing across the idea that chronic illnesses are not disabling and also to showcase the talent of our Youths.

You must be asking what are they trying to achieve with this project?

They are sending a message to the public that we should change our perspectives towards youths with chronic illnesses and to allow these art pieces to inspire other youths.

You must also be wondering why am I talking so much about it?

This is because I feel a strong desire to participate when Kar Wai the peer group leader told me about it. I attended the meeting which is a brief introduction to start brainstorming for ideas. I feel that it is a brand new way to start living my life again after a year of inactivity. It’s a great way to start being a bit more active. It is one of the first task after my treatment last year. Yesterday meeting was also great, met some new people. Although, there was some challenges along the way like the weather not cooperating and things like that, I managed to reach there with a strong determination. I am thinking like nothing can stop me.

In the next few weeks, I will most probably be concentrating on this art project dedicated to all who cared about me, to prove that I can do it. I wished my family members can be supportive of me in terms of moral or in in terms of mobility wise. I hereby wished that I can accomplish this project. Cheers!!! Ending off with a picture of the group in the cabin.
