19 July 2013

Hello readers, I am back! As mentioned previously, 19 July 2013 is a very important and unforgettable day for me as it was the launch night of the Project Dreamcatchers 2013 art exhibition. It is definitely a meaningful night for me!
We are supposed to reach at 7pm because the launching starts @ 7.30pm.
However, we set off early in a cab @ 5.55pm and reached there after 50 minutes although the journey was not considered long but there was a traffic jam. We entered the venue and proceeded straight to my art piece booth as I was excited to show my family my art piece which I have put in so much effort to do it and was very pleased with the results.

The daisy that the instructor gave, so sweet! Thanks joy!

As I held the exhibition catalogue in my hands, I felt the honour as I entered the venue as an artist not a guest. I quickly flipped open the catalogue and was surprised to find my name on the first page, was so elated about it. Shortly after, there was this person from National Youth Council who wanted to know more about my artwork, after telling them that my laptop was meant to convey the gratitude and appreciation for all the people I met during the past 2 years when I was undergoing treatment. I told her that although it was tough but I hung on bravely and positively.

Before I could finish my conversation with her, another person wanted to do an interview with me to include in the corporate video. I was uber nervous about it and broke into a sweat but eventually managed to finish the interview without a hinge. There was some pause but overall was quite okay as we talked about inspirations, message I want to tell the public and my dreams. This interview is also very honourable cause they only selected 2 artists to have an interview with.
Interview =) Nervous max!!

Me with the interviewer!!

After the interview, I was so warm and relieved that I have finished with the interview. After which I started taking pictures with my family, together with my artwork! They were so proud of me and keep snapping pictures of me with my artwork, so honourable and special like a star that night. That night, I felt like a star and Hwee Hwee said a lot of people came for me and I was like the 1st publicity gal and Kar Wai said I was the best PR manager. All these praises make me feel special to be there. Thus before the launch officially began, I was busy snapping pictures with guests. Some of them whom I didn’t expect to turn up, came too and gave me a pleasant surprise. Appreciate all the support I received, so happy 😃😃
At around 7.45pm, the launch officially began. Firstly, the show was greeted by our lovely emcee, Siti Rasyidah who was really amazing and she spoke really well. Introducing our dreamcatchers Chelsea Fairclough who will present a wheelie art dancing to her own beat with her customised wheelchair, that is totally remarkable and all applause goes to her. She is simply amazing!
Siti Rasyidah the emcee, woohoo! You rocks!!

Want to see more of her art pieces?

Can go to paintability.org/
After that, we have the presentation and speech of various artists. Amazing people indeed! Want to see more pictures can go Facebook and like Project Dreamcatchers.
When the launch was over, hosting began and I was ordered by family to eat first before hosting as they are afraid I got no energy. Before I could finish eating, many people and guests swamped to take pictures and talk to me, including Dr Teo, Dr Melvin, Dr Ong, Dr Bernice and many more!

After that was another interview part 2 for dreamcatchers:

After the 1st round of interview, I became more confident and less nervous and I think I did a great job!
After the interview was more pictures taking session!
Time to take a group shot:

Shout out Project Dreamcatchers!!

The event and photo taking ended around 9pm and we make our way home by cab, was such a tired day! Definitely learnt a lot from the process of art making and process of explaining it as we turn our ideas of our dreams into an artwork to transmit the idea to the public that chronic illness are not disabling!!
